How to take Snapshots from Movies

Ever wanted to capture that perfect scene from a movie or video clip? Heres how to do it.

Using Windows Media Player

  1. At the scene you would like to save, press Ctrl-I at the same time to save the snapshot.

Using VideoLAN (VLC Media Player)

  1. Pause the scene that you would like to save, by pressing the Space Bar.
  2. Click Video
  3. Click Snapshot
  4. Your snapshot of the scene has now been saved, usually to My Pictures. However the location can be changed in VLC’s settings.

Failed to install catalog files

Getting the Failed to install catalog files error? This is how you fix it. The issue is related to registry key security settings.

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. Type in: command
  4. Press enter
  5. In the command prompt typesecedit /configure /cfg c:Windowsrepairsecsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose /areas regkeys
  6. Press **Enter **

If it reports an error about not knowing where secedit is then you can download it from “here”. You need to download it and put it in My Computer/C.

How to Import Mass Effect 2 Save into Mass Effect 3

Problems importing your Mass Effect 2 save game into Mass Effect 3, this is caused because Mass Effect 3 actually looks to the Mass Effect 2 folder.

  1. Click Start
  2. Click My Documents/Documents
  3. Go into the Bioware folder
  4. Right click, select Create New, Folder
  5. Name it “Mass Effect 2
  6. Go into the newly created Mass Effect 2 folder and make a new folder called “Save
  7. Go into the Save Folder
  8. Now create a new folder for your character save ie Luke_30_Adept_070212
  9. Go into your new folder, and paste your save game from Mass Effect 2 into it.
  10. Now run Mass Effect 3, Go to New Game, Import ME2 Character & choose Import Career.
  11. Now you should be able to play!

If the above doesn’t work. You need to reinstall Mass Effect 2. Copy your save game back to the Mass Effect 2 folder in My Documents/Bioware/Mass Effect 2/Save and load your save game back into Mass Effect 2. Then save your game again. Exit out of Mass Effect 2, load Mass Effect 3 and you should be able to import your character.

56k Modem Strings

Want to lower the volume of your 56k Dial-up connection when connecting? You can adjust the modem options. Follow these instructions.

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Click Modem or Phone & Modem Options
  4. Make sure you are in the General Tab, and choose Properties.
  5. Click Connections
  6. Click Advanced
  7. Insert the following strings, depending on what you want to do and press Ok.

M0 = Speaker always off

M1 = Speaker on during connection

M2 = Speaker always on (very noisy)

L0 = Lowest volume

L1 = Lowest volume (redundant)

L2 = Medium volume

L3 = Maximum volume
