Fix Epson AcuLaser C1100 Printing Darker on One Side
· 2 min read
If your Epson AcuLaser C1100 is printing noticeably darker on the left side of the page, the most likely cause is a dirty or misaligned print head. This can happen over time as toner dust accumulates inside the printer.
Clean the print head
- Locate the blue lever on the right side of the printer.
- Move the lever in and out completely several times. This actuates the internal cleaning mechanism and helps redistribute toner evenly.
- Print a test page to check if the issue is resolved.
If the uneven printing persists after cleaning, the toner cartridge may be running low or defective and should be replaced.
Change a toner cartridge before its expiration
You can proactively replace a toner cartridge before it runs out completely to avoid print quality degradation:
- Make sure that Ready or Sleep is displayed on the LCD panel.
- On the control panel, navigate to the Reset Menu and select Change Toner X (where X is C for Cyan, M for Magenta, Y for Yellow, or K for Black).
- The printer will move the selected cartridge to the replacement position. Wait until the LCD displays Replace Toner X.
- Open the printer cover, remove the old cartridge, and insert the new one.
- Close the cover. The printer will automatically recognise the new cartridge.
Maintenance tips
- Print regularly — infrequent use can cause toner to settle unevenly, leading to streaks and uneven density.
- Store toner cartridges in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Shake new cartridges gently from side to side before installing to distribute toner evenly inside the cartridge.
