Reset Windows 7 Security Permissions

  1. Click Start
  2. Navigate to Programs/Accessories
  3. Right click Command Prompt and select Run As Administrator
  4. Type: secedit /configure /cfg %windir%infdefltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose
  5. Press Enter
  6. Wait for it to complete the operation and the permissions should be reset back to Factory Settings.

This has also been reported as the fix for Windows Update Error #8007005
