Once deployed, you can create resources in the Extended Zone using the Azure portal, Azure CLI, or Azure PowerShell. For our purposes, we will use Azure PowerShell to create a Storage account in the Perth Extended Zone.

Creating a Resource in the Azure Portal is simple: select a supported resource, select the primary region, and select the Extended Zone.

However, they are not fully self-sufficient and rely on a connection to the Australia East region for resource creation and management. Until the issue in the Australia East region is resolved, you may face limitations in creating or managing resources in the Extended Zones.
Also worth noting, that the Extended Zones in Perth are not a replacement for the Azure regions in Australia, but rather an extension of the Azure regions to provide low latency and data residency for applications that require it - for example The Extended Zones in Perth are not designed to be used as a disaster recovery site for the Azure regions in Australia - note that the Storage account in the Extended Zone is not geo-replicated or zone-resilient, so consider resiliency and availability when deploying resources in the Extended Zones.
