Plug & Play Software Enumerator No Sound Win XP

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Programs
  3. Click Accessories
  4. Click Command Prompt
  5. Type:  md temp | press Enter
  6. Now we need to change to it type: Type:  cd temp | press Enter
  7. Type:  copy %windir%infmachine.inf tempallmachine.inf (That will copy the “machine.inf to our newly created folder”)
  8. Type:  copy %windir%system32driversswenum.sys temp
  9. Typecopy %windir%system32streamci.dll temp
  10. Click Start
  11. Click My Computer/Computer
  12. Click on C:
  13. Navigate into Temp
  14. Right clickallmachine.inf
  15. Left click Open With, Notepad
  16. Click Edit
  17. Click Go To..
  18. Type in “22” > press Enter
  19. Select and delete: ExcludeFromSelect=*
  20. Click File, Save.
  21. Click Start
  22. Right click My Computer/Computer
  23. Left click Properties
  24. Click Hardware
  25. Click Device Manager
  26. Click Add Hardware (may be under ActionsAdd Hardware)
  27. Click Have Disk
  28. Browse to c:/Temp
  29. A list of devices should now appear select Plug and Play Software Enumerator and click Install

How to remove OSX User Account Password

With CD

  1. Put your OSX CD/DVD into your optical drive.
  2. Restart the Mac and hold down the C key while the Mac is starting
  3. Now you should be greeted with a start-up menu select the Install (DVD/CD)
  4. Once it has booted click Utilities in the upper Menu
  5. Select Password Reset/Reset Password
  6. Now select your OSX HDD
  7. Select the User Account you want to remove/change the password of and enter in a new password.
  8. Click Save
  9. Now restart your Mac and remove the OSX CD/DVD from the drive.

 

Without CD Method

Note: You may lose all your Data, documents etc. Please backup first!

Tested on 10.5.6

Following the steps below you will create a new User Account which will override your old User Account and take precedence over logging in you will then remove the password from your old User Account and set it to log in.

  1. Restart OSX
  2. Hold down the Apple Key+S (or Command+S on newer Macs) key as the computer first turns on.
  3. Once the Mac starts showing lines of text and a terminal you can release the keys.
  4. Once you see a blinking cursor type: “mount -uw /” press Enter
  5. Type: “rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone” press Enter
  6. Type: “shutdown -h now” press Enter
  7. Turn the computer back on
  8. You will now be greeted with for a new user creation, follow the prompts to create a new User
  9. You would have noticed that there is no option to login to your old account, this is normal.
  10. Once you are within OSX
  11. Click the Apple Logo (top left)
  12. Click System Preferences
  13. Click Users
  14. Click Unlock (little lock, down the bottom of the dialog)
  15. Select your old User Account
  16. Click Change Password (here you can remove and/or change it depending on what you want to do)
  17. Click Login Options (down the bottom)
  18. Click Change Automatic Options to Disabled
  19. Restart OSX
  20. Now you will be greeted to a login dialog, select your old User Account
  21. Login and you can go back to System Preferences/Users to delete the account you had created.

How to Remove VirtualBox Guest Additions

  1. First thing is first close all instances of VirtualBox
  2. Open up a Terminal
  3. Type:
    press Enter
  4. Type:
    press Enter
  5. Type:
    press Enter
  6. Type:
    press Enter
  7. Type:
    press Enter
  8. Type:
    press Enter
  9. Type:
    press Enter
  10. Now open Virtualbox

Load needed DLLs for Kernel

  1. First thing you need to have a Windows XP CD
  2. Put CD in drive and boot from it, you may have to press ESC or F8 to open Boot Prompt to select CD Drive.
  3. Once it has loaded choose Recovery Console
  4. Type: chkdsk /r /f c:
  5. Press Y
  6. This may take an hour or two to complete, once it has completed type: BOOTCFG /rebuild (Press Enter for prompt)
  7. Type: fixboot and press Enter
  8. Type: fixmbr and press Enter
  9. Restart your computer which should now be loading Windows properly.

How to create a mapped Network drive in Windows 7

Follow the instructions to create a mapped network drive in Windows 7 without windows indexing like a local folder?

  1. Create a new folder for your network shares (ie c:Shared)
  2. Go into the folder you created and make a new folder  (ie c:SharedMovies)
  3. Now you need to link the library into the folder you create in the second step  (ie c:SharedMovies) by going into Documents and up the top click “Includes: 2 locations” and click Add and add the folder.
  4. Now go back to your original folder you created  (ie c:Shared) and delete the folder you made in the second step (ie c:SharedMovies)
  5. Now we make a link to link the folder to the remote folder and to do that we need the Command Prompt, click Start, Run type: cmd and press Enter
  6. Type in: mklink /d c:Shared remotemachinefolder and press Enter
  7. Now your Documents folder should include your remote folder mapped through the c:Shared folder you created earlier like it is a normal folder.

Logon Process has failed to create the security options dialog

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. Type: msconfig
  4. Click Ok
  5. This will open  the System Configuration Utility, click Startup tab up the top
  6. Go through the startup list and uncheck everything other then your Antivirus and any other software you want starting
  7. Press Ok
  8. Restart PC

If the fix above, doesn’t work then follow this tomorrow:

  1. Click Start
  2. Type: cmd and press Enter
  3. Type: sfc /scannow (You might need the Windows CD as it will attempt to restore non-corrupt files from the CD onto  the computer).
  4. Once completed, restart the computer.

If none of the fixes above work, try the following:

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. Type:  devmgmt.msc (This will open Device Manager, which lists your devices)
  4. In the list, go to System devices
  5. Right Click ACPI Fixed Features
  6. Choose Uninstall
  7. Restart the computer
