Wildstar – Client version does not match the game server version

This error seems to be happening mostly to us New Zealand players.. looks like a DNS issue. The fix is to use a VPN tunnel for when you first open a launcher or edit the host file.

To edit the Host file do the following:

  1. Click Start
  2. All Programs
  3. Accessories
  4. Right click Notepad and select Run as administrator
  5. Click Continue on the “Windows needs your permission” UAC window.
  6. When Notepad opens Click File -> Open
  7. In the filename field type C:WindowsSystem32Driversetchosts
  8. Click Open
  9. Paste in and save the host file:

Repair Windows Explorer start-up

This usually occurs if Viruses or Spyware has infected explorer.exe and changed the registry entry to stop it from starting.

  1. Click Start (orb)
  2. Type in: regedit
  3. Press Enter
  4. Navigate to:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionwinlogon
  5. Double click the Shell entry
  6. Make sure it is set to: Explorer.exe
  7. Press Ok
  8. Restart your computer

 

If the above doesn’t work attempt a system restore by pressing F8 during Windows Vista boot to bring up the Boot Menu and select Startup Repair.

 

Note: Tested with Windows Vista – ok

Note: Also may work on Windows 7 – though I haven’t personally tested this.

” IE8 will reset the search provider setting to default setting of xxx search. IE8 will open the search provider dialog where you can change your search provider”.

  1. Close any instances of Internet Explorer you have open
  2. Click Start.
  3. Click Run.
  4. Type in regedit and press enter
  5. In the editor, expand and navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerUser
  6. Right click User Shell Folders
  7. Select New and then Expandable String value.
  8. A new value is added in right pane
  9. Type in AppData and press enter
  10. Double click AppData
  11. Under value data type in %USERPROFILE%Application Data.  Note: If there is already AppData in the right pane, double click and correct it to %USERPROFILE%Application Data
  12. Exit Registry Editor
  13. Open Internet Explorer

Getting “ Instead of @ When Typing

This happens when the keyboard region has changed to UK instead of the usual standard US layout.

  1. Click Start (windows orb)
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Click Regional and Language
  4. Click Options
  5. Click Languages
  6. Click Details
  7. Click Settings
  8. In the drop down list select US Keyboard International
  9. Click Ok

Restart the application you were having problems typing in and you should now be able to use @

How to completely remove Microsoft Groove

“An error occurred while using SSL configuration for socket address %2. The error status code is contained within the returned data.”

This error occurs when the SSL certificates that allow you to access secure content, such as Emails & Internet Banking becomes damaged or corrupted. Follow the instructions below to fix.

  1. Click Start click All Programs, click Accessories
  2. Rightclick Command Prompt & click Run as Administrator  then click Continue.
  3. Type netsh http show sslcert,  press Enter to view the installed certificates.
  4. Type netsh http delete sslcert, press Enter to delete the incorrectly installed certificate.
  5. Type netsh http add sslcert, press Enter to re-install the certificate.
